Blinq
About
Every meaningful relationship starts with a first meeting. The hello, the handshake.
Blinq is a digital business card for that moment. You share who you are, capture who you meet, and it becomes a contact with the context still on it. Notes, enrichment and follow-up sit with the person, not in a separate pile.
The other person does not need the app. A paper card is already out of date once it is printed. This one stays current, and sharing it is how the product moves.
Work
I was one of the early people on the iOS app, a UIKit codebase laid out with programmatic constraints. I moved parts of it off MVC onto VIPER so the newer work had a shape that could last, and I covered those modules with unit tests, around 95% on the ones I shipped.
SSO went in for Google, Apple and Microsoft. Onboarding was being rewritten in SwiftUI. Persistence moved off ad-hoc shared preferences onto Core Data.
Blinq was a small mobile team in a company SquarePeg and Blackbird had backed.
Notes
- I was privileged to have a front-row seat of what a rocketship looks like. Blinq was one of the fastest-growing startups in Australia.
- I witnessed what real ambition looks like.
- It was cool to be around people who were obsessed with the end-user experience and product polish.
- Inculcated a builder’s mindset.
